London will play host to a plethora of 2014 International Sporting and Cultural Events ranging from mass spectator events to music festivals throughout the year 2014. London has always been at the forefront in winning bids for hosting a number of high-profile sporting fixtures. The various events that have been lined up are being detailed below.
January 2014 will see the New Year’s Day Parade in central London and the NBA Global Games London 2014 at the O2 Arena. In February, the Chinese New Year Celebrations at Trafalgar Square and the Vodafone London Fashion Weekend at Somerset House are the main events. In March, the main fixtures are RBS 6 Nations, England v Wales, Twickenham Stadium and The FA Trophy Final at Wembley Stadium.
In April 2014, BNY Mellon Boat Race, River Thames (Putney to Mortlake), FA Cup Semi Finals, Wembley Stadium and Feast of St George, Trafalgar Square are the important events. In May, RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Royal Hospital SW3, Westminster Mile, Westminster, BUPA London 10k, St James’s Park and One Day International – England v Sri Lanka NatWest ODI, Lords are the main events. June will witness Polo in the Park, The Hurlingham Club, The Venture Cup and Royal Ascot, Ascot Racecourse.
In July, Tour de France Stage 3, city-wide, Hampton Court Palace Flower Show, Clipper Round the World Yacht Race and River Thames (Tower Bridge) will take place. In August, The London Triathlon, ExCeL London, Notting Hill Carnival, Notting Hill and Tetley’s Challenge Cup Final, Wembley Stadium are slated for taking place. In September, Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta 2014, River Thames (Greenwich) and Vodafone London Fashion Week, Somerset House will take place.
In October 2014, the important sports event is NFL International Series Game – Atlanta Falcons v Detroit Lions, Wembley Stadium. November will witness Lord Mayor’s Show, central London and Remembrance Sunday, city-wide. December 2014 will see NYE Fireworks, central London.
