One of the best things about visiting the UK’s capital for a business meeting is the ability to spend your free time checking out the array of attractions the city has to offer once the day’s work has been completed.
Here are seven of our favourite things to do when your meetings at the Park Grand London Paddington have come to an end.
London Aquarium LATES
Although many of the main London attractions close at 6 pm, the London Aquarium holds a series of late-night events up until 10 pm on selected dates. Take the Tube from Paddington Station (which is a short walk from our Paddington Hotels), and you’ll reach the aquarium in just twenty-five minutes.
A hub for the arts, there’s always something going on at the Barbican. From live classical music to talks and art exhibitions, the Barbican is open late into the evening on most nights. It takes just twenty-five minutes to reach the Barbican from the Park Grand London Paddington.
The National History Museum
Like the London Aquarium, the National History Museum offers a late night each Friday for those who are busy working during the day. Browse through the various halls and uncover the history of London with some excellent interactive displays and a regular calendar of visiting exhibitions.
To get there from our Paddington Hotels, take the Circle line to South Kensington Station. The journey takes just over ten minutes.
The National Portrait Gallery
If you’re an art lover in the city for business, then the National Portrait Gallery opens late on a Thursday and Friday evening so that you can enjoy the work of world-famous painters.
From the Park Grand London Paddington, head to Paddington Station and take the Bakerloo line to Charing Cross station and you’ll be there in just over fifteen minutes.
The Tate Modern
If contemporary art is more to your taste, then there’s nowhere quite like the Tate Modern. Opening until 9 pm each Friday, browse the array of up and coming artists on display at this iconic venue which takes just half an hour to reach from our Paddington hotels.
A visit to the West End
Relax and unwind with some toe-tapping performances in the West End. Easily accessible from Paddington Station, there’s always something worth seeing at the West End at any time of year, so gather your colleagues for a great night out with an evening performance of your choice.
House of Parliament Debates
Although the usual Houses of Parliament tours end at 6 pm each evening, you might well be lucky enough to catch a live debate that often takes place in the evening. Anyone can visit the Houses of Parliament to witness a series of debates, but they have become quite a popular pastime for visitors and Londoners alike so you might have to wait to be admitted to the venue for a short while.
