Airport Directions from Paddington

Getting to Heathrow Airport from Paddington in central London can be done in several ways. The easiest, quickest and the most convenient way is to take the Heathrow Express from Paddington Station. It departs every 15 minutes, starting at 5.10am daily with the last train at 11.25pm. Journey time is approximately 15 minutes or 21 minutes to Terminal 5. For Terminal 4, there’s a free shuttle train from Heathrow Central (Terminals 1, 2 and 3). This train stops at terminals 1, 2 & 3 and Heathrow Terminal 5. For Terminal 4, passengers need to change on to the free transfer train at Heathrow Terminals 1, 2 & 3.
Heathrow Connect’s stopping service to London Paddington links the airport with local stations in west London. Modern, air-conditioned trains run every 30 minutes. The journey between Paddington and Heathrow Terminals 1, 2 & 3 takes about 25 minutes (a few minutes more for Terminal 4 or 5).

If you wish to reach Heathrow Airport by tube from Paddington, you need to take London Underground’s Piccadilly Line that provides the most cost-effective rail route between Heathrow Airport and the capital. Journey time by Tube is under an hour and you may not have to wait longer than ten minutes for a train, even off-peak.

Heathrow has three London Underground stations – one for Terminals 1, 2 and 3, one each at Terminal 4 and Terminal 5. Heathrow Terminals 1, 2, 3 station is in the central area between the terminals, which are a few minutes’ walk away via underground walkways. Heathrow Terminal 4 and Heathrow Terminal 5 underground stations are in the basements of the terminal buildings. All stations are in Travelcard Zone 6.

If you plan to take a coach, the National Express operates services from the airport to London Victoria and from Victoria you can take a tube to Paddington. It also offers a London hotel transfer service to and from Heathrow Airport called Heathrow Hoppa. You can also take a taxi from the airport. The journey time to central London is approximately 45-60 minutes and should cost between £45 and £70.

If you are travelling by car, it takes approximately 45-60 minutes to get to central London from Heathrow. When leaving terminals 1, 2 and 3, follow exit signs to the access/exit tunnel. Follow signs to the M4 motorway, which will eventually bring you into London.

Terminal 4 is on the main A30 road while Terminal 5 is close to A3044. The M4 and M25 orbital are signposted. Again, follow signs to the M4 which will eventually bring you into London. The distance between Heathrow Airport and Paddington Station is 23.6 km.
