Paddington Station Guide

Paddington Station was designed by Victorian architect, Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The first – temporary – site opened in 1838 as a service between Paddington, London and Taplow in Maidenhead. The main station was built between Bishop’s Bridge Road and Praed Street and opened on the 29th May 1854, along with The Great Western Hotel which was built to accommodate travellers.

Restoration work was done in the 21st century to preserve the roofing and ornamental tracing so that passengers can continue to enjoy the Victorian and Edwardian splendour of the station.

Today, Paddington Station is the 7th busiest station in the UK and had 35.094 million passengers entering and exiting its doors between 2013-2014.
