Guide to Regent Street

Regent Street is one of the most iconic streets in the city, providing a world-famous backdrop to the upcoming Summer Streets event. This year looks set to be extra special, as Regent Street itself is celebrating its 200th anniversary. The street was named after the Prince Regent, and built by noted architect John Nash on his instructions.

While London was already a bustling centre of trade and commerce, Regent Street was the first street built specifically for shopping – and has since managed to keep up with the changing times to remain a space which champions retail therapy in all its forms!

There’s always something happening here, and throughout 2019 there will be a number of events dedicated to celebrating the street’s original naming. Regent Street has maintained its status for two centuries, and now includes a variety of world-class shopping spots including everything from international brands to locally-focused independent stores.
