Themed Nights Not to be Missed this Summer

London is a fantastic place to visit for a fun night out, with a wide variety of events throughout the summer months – sure to keep even the most discerning traveller entertained. The following list showcases some of our favourite upcoming theme night events over the next few weeks, perfect if you’re looking for a night out with a difference or just want to treat yourself during your stay with us.

Secret Cinema presents Casino Royale

This special themed event allows James Bond fans to really immerse themselves in all things 007, while enjoying one of the most popular films in the series. The new run of the event follows an initial sold-out series of dates so if you’re visiting us at the Park Grand London Paddington and missed out the first time, grab tickets now to try this experiential cinema showcase.

Guests at the event are given a special mission briefing and ‘classified information’ which includes a new alias and a special target. They are then encouraged to get involved in the world of espionage for the evening – and no two nights are ever the same.

The Jewel of the Empire: Immersive ‘Murder Express’ Experience

Murder mystery evenings are an enduringly popular way to enjoy a themed night, and this is one of London’s finest. Set in 1937, the event focuses on a complex story which transports attendees to a world of action and adventure. ‘The Jewel of the Empire’ includes a variety of characters including archaeologist Errol Earheart, as well as many other key figures involved in transporting a precious jewel which has gone missing. The event includes a menu designed by a Masterchef Professionals winner, and visitors are free to uncover the mystery during their journey on this luxurious train carriage, the Murder Express.

Western-themed nights at the Moonshine Saloon

Transporting visitors to the Wild West while staying in London, this Western-themed saloon bar provides theatre and great cocktails, while staff and surroundings never slip from character. The bar provides a multi-layered, multi-room experience where they will work in cahoots with an on-site bootlegger to avoid being caught by the local Sheriff. Along the way, attendees get to try a range of incredible cocktails and take part in everything from dice and card games to getting a look at the in-house distillery.

Visitors are also encouraged to bring their own bottle of liquor, which the bar staff will then mix into a unique cocktail for each guest. If you’ve ever wondered what life was like at this very special and dangerous time in American history, then you can get a glimpse for yourself without leaving London. Events run throughout the summer from mid-July, and provide a fun way for guests at a Bayswater Hotel in London to try something new.

A Shot In The Dark

The Bedford on 2nd August 2019

This immersive experience transports guests to the glamour of the 1930s, with a fantastic selection of cabaret, music and dance. Visitors are encouraged to get involved in the event, dressing up as gangsters and molls and becoming part of the performance themselves. The backdrop is suitably ostentatious, and the show takes guests to a world of starlets, mobsters and drama set in 1936.

The event sold out in March, and is now back for a second round – kick-starting at 7:30pm with a DJ set which runs until 2am. Visitors receive a complimentary glass of prosecco as soon as they arrive, helping to get them into the party spirit – and full table service is provided on reservation. Attendance can be booked in advance at the official The Bedford website (no at-door reservations can be made).

The One With The Friends Quiz

Friends is one of the most popular sitcoms of all time, detailing the lives and loves of a group of six friends in New York City. This special themed event in London provides a great way to brush up on your 90s nostalgia and test your knowledge of all things Friends. The event is run by real fans of the show and offers a selection of four different quizzes during the evening, providing a sociable and fun-filled experience for teams of up to six participants.

Tickets can be booked in advance online at the Harlem Soul website, as there is no admission on the door. Expect margaritas, impromptu sing-along renditions of ‘Smelly Cat’ and much more, ideal for a unique night out while staying at the Park Grand London Paddington. The quiz nights take place throughout the summer from August until the end of September.

The Great Gatsby Party

The Great Gatsby is one of the most popular pieces of 20th century literature, helping to encapsulate the beauty and tragedy of a special time in US history. The novel (and its subsequent film adaptations) have also helped to spark a new trend in themed-evenings, with a variety of different Gatsby-themed events encouraging visitors to dress up as flappers and dapper gents. This party will take place towards the end of the summer, and provides all the drama and excitement which fans have come to expect. The event provides canapes and champagne throughout the evening, and will feature a series of live performances from musicians, comedians and dance acts sure to keep everyone entertained throughout the night. Extravagant and decadent, the party is one which you’ll certainly remember from your trip to London.

Camden Oktoberfest

Camden’s take on the Oktoberfest is one of the largest and most popular in all of London, providing four days of delicious food, beer and fun. The Electric Ballroom, one of the area’s most impressive venues, will recreate a Bavarian beer-hall complete with bunting, wooden tables and a true party atmosphere. Authentic cuisine will be on offer as well as entertainment from a live oompah band to help you really get into the spirit of the event.
